Located a short walk from IconSiam, this little bar has a focus on cats, and their own beer (through WhiteCat Brewing). There were at least 3 different cats roaming around and the crowd was mostly a young crowd that did not seem to be beer nerds. Tale’n Ale – cats’n craft and music adds a casual option to the area around IconSiam.
A very casual bar on the west side of the river that draws in a younger crowd with its cats, simple drinks, and live music.
NOTE: the cats are NOT at the bar every night. If that is your main interest, please check their schedule on their Facebook page. They keep a schedule of the cats because they got a 1-star review by someone that didn’t get to see the cats.
Getting to Tale'n Ale
‘Tale’n Ale – Hidden Bar’ as its called on Google Maps.
The bar is located on the rooftop of Bembis Hotel. Walk into the hotel’s bright lobby, and take the elevator/lift up to the 5th floor.
Cats'n Craft'n music'n food
Bar opens at 6pm and offers a variety of food, that you can access through a QR code. The bottles of cheap beer, and cheap beer towers are only advertised on the menu.
The little fridge has a full range of Samata local beers, plus a few imports, but is otherwise mostly for storing bottles of water and the cans of coke to serve with the bottles of local whisky.
Live Music seems to be a regular thing.
Local foods on the menu were nice. We had the pork neck, fried beer, and spicy peanut salad.
The beer at Tale'n Ale
There are 7 craft beer taps to choose from, and a chalk board to list the styles, strength, and price. The serving size is around 300ml, and the price is quite reasonable for it, under 200.
It is not clear, but it seems Tale’n Ale is connected through family to WhiteCat Brewing, and thus the beers seem to be from WhiteCat (according to this Facebook post)
Beer-Geek Notes: Beers are OK. Some are under carbonated, and most are pretty easy simple style beers. IPA was pretty nice.
