The kitchen is not operational just yet, and the 3rd floor is still under construction, but they are serving beer on the 4th floor as The Upper Deck Softly opens. Sports are already showing on their large TV screens, and the 27 taps of beer are almost all already filled, with a majority of easy drinking lagers, but also local and imported craft beer and ciders.
– with the effort and interest shown in the selection of beer, there are already high hopes the same effort will be put into the food menu.
The Upper Deck is the result of well-seasoned bar owners in Bangkok setting out to make “the ultimate sports bar experience” in Bangkok. It has a definitive American Bar feel to it and there is a ton of space. It is a BIG bar.
The Upper Deck has a deck space to watch the BTS trains roll by going between Asok and Phrom Phong stations.
(Picture shows a pint of BaanBangkok Dicktator IIPA on the deck at a train rolls to Asok BTS station.)
Upper Deck Softly Opens
The Upper Deck is on level 3 and 4 of the building that houses El Gaucho at Sukhumvit road and Soi 20.
At time of writing, December 13th, the 3rd floor is still under construction, and the kitchen is set to open next week.
Beer Selection at Upper Deck
- 27 taps of beers and ciders
- 12 taps of the 27 - lagers/pilsners
- 2 nitro taps of the 27 - Guinness & Kilkenny
The beer menu is set between “popular draft” and “premium imported draft.” The fridge is full of the brand names of beers you would expect of a bar in Bangkok.
Part of the Pemium draft list includes a number of local Thai craft brands, which includes:
- BaanBangkok
- Chiang Mai
- ChitBeer
- Vana Brewing
