The Bangkok Beer Guide website signed up for Google’s AdSense just about a month ago, and after making a little over one US dollar, it is just not worth the cents.
– The idea of making some money for having a website people will want to visit sounds like a great idea, but the number of ads and the placement of very large ads made the whole experience rather poor.
Maybe someday there will be a way for the the guide to make a little money to make back the costs of a domain and and the countless beers consumed “as research,” but it is not there yet.

We are glad to know that no one gave us negative feedback about the ads on the website. All recent feedback about the site/guide has been positive. We are glad that people see it as a source to know about upcoming events, or things happening in the Bangkok craft beer scene.
Going forward
Going forward, hopefully the ads are taken off as quickly as they appeared. We flushed our cache, and are opening and re-opening a number of tabs and windows to make sure the ads are not showing up. Hopefully this is true for everyone, and the experience is better overall. Making money sounds fun, but not at any cost.
