Neighborhoods in Bangkok

The city of Bangkok is pretty big, and so it is good to figure out where you want to visit based on the neighborhoods you are in or near. Looking for “craft beer near me”? Maybe we can help.

NOTE: page is currently being filled out, and is a work in progress.

We made a public Google Map of places to get good beer. We try our best to keep it up to date…. but the city is pretty big and there are lots of places to get a craft beer.

Sukhumvit (The Mainline)

This is the “Old Guard” of the beer scene, but it remains the most densely populated with quality taps.

Thong Lo & Ekkamai:

  • The upscale heart of the scene. Look for Mikkeller Bangkok (a legendary “gypsy brewery” outpost) and a city favorite: Duke of Beerington.

Phrom Phong & Nana:

  • High-energy spots like Hair of the Dog (an “operating room” themed bar) and Brewski, which is one of the city’s highest rooftop craft beer bars. (pictured)

This area has seen the most growth in recent years, turning historic shophouses into moody, atmospheric taprooms.

Soi Nana (Chinatown):

  • Not to be confused with the Sukhumvit area, this Soi Nana is home to Pijiu Bar, which specializes in curated bottled and draft selections.

Rattanakosin:

  • Near the famous Jay Fai, you’ll find Tai Soon Bar. It’s set in a renovated Chinese pharmacy and offers a fantastic selection of Thai and international craft beers.

South of central Bangkok on the Silom line, the Central Business District has a wide range of places to get some good food and drink.

Silom – Sala Daeng BTS:

  • International & local bars for the locals and tourists to enjoy: Shenanigan’s Irish Pub Sports Bar, and a couple Chit Holes.

Sathon – St. Louis BTS:

  • North and south of the St. Louis BTS are a range of options; Sathon 12 bar street to the north, and Charm to the south.

Ari is the hipster darling of Bangkok. It’s less touristy than Sukhumvit and has a strong “neighborhood” feel.

Hidden Gems in Ari

  • staples in the area include Eight Days a Week and O’Glee. It’s the perfect area for focusing on a more “chill” or “work-from-bar” afternoon vibe.
  • Dok Kaew House Bar is a converted house now serving tasty beer and Isaan food. (pictured)

Riverside & Bang Rak (The Scenic Sips)

The Chao Phraya River runs along Bangkok’s westside and offers some great options to get brews with a view.

Iconic Bars:

  • Jack’s Bar offers a gritty, authentic riverside experience with cheap cold beer, while HOBS (pictured) in ICONSIAM offers great views and some local beers.

  • Isara Bar and brewery focuses on local Thai craft beer and even serves some of its own brews.

Where the two Skytrain/BTS lines meet: at Siam BTS Station known for a ton of shopping options, and some good places to get a beer.  We also added the Phaya Thai BTS station area, as it was close enough…

Chit Lom BTS

  • Modern and trendy European import bars include BrewDog for modern music and craft, and Belgo Brasserie for Belgian food and beer.

Phaya Thai BTS

  • Under the terminal station for the Airport line offers local Thai craft beer by ChitBeer. (pictured)

Chatuchak has the famous market, and in the general area – very general area- are some beer destinations.

Lat Phrao

  • The Fat Cow is a solid go-to bar for local beer, and a menu to keep the whole family happy.

Emerging & "Destination" Spots

Don’t forget these outliers:

  • Chang Chui (Pinklao): Home to the People Festival (formerly Beer People Fest) held every March. It’s a creative park with a giant airplane in the center and several bars.

  • Ban Tad Thong: The new “foodie” street of Bangkok also has hidden gems like Beer Pradith, focusing on local Thai craft producers.
