June 6th; Bottle Rockets is in the Silom part of Bangkok, and had another event to bring in brewers and more local Thai beer, as well as some of the imports found in the city. Last time they had a tap takeover was in November, so it was good to get a BR Tap Takeover Fest in June.
Editor’s note: How great would it be if more bars in Bangkok had this range of local beers? Or what if more events happened in Bangkok that supported the local Thai craft beer scene?
Quite a number of people from the local brewing community came out.
Toon of Sandport
First official Hazy IPA – ‘Empress the Sun’ with a bit of coconut* in the recipe
editor’s note: I really liked this. I am pretty sure I heard Toon say that there is a bit of coconut in it. There was a nice fruity/coconut balance in the haze. Tasty stuff.
Brouwerij de Molen
Rasputin – Russian Imperial Stout, brewed by Brouwerij de Molen in the Netherlands
Editor’s note: Obviously I am a BIG fan of stouts, so having a Russian Imperial Stout as a last beer of the night was the order of the day. The flavours were rich and so very dark….. was also a 10% ABV.
