Beer Events

The event happened on Saturday afternoon, and so the day after feels like a good time to think back for a post, American Craft Beer Experience: Review.

Unexpectedly popular?

Fortunately, there was no rain. As this was the first time the event was held, it was not perfect, but it was a fun event that hopefully has a chance to happen again. As it was the first year, the organizers, Beer Asia & Brewers Association (USA), played it conservative and the space for the event was not as a big as might be expected for “17 breweries” on display.

Crowd at American Craft Beer Experience in Bangkok

Rumor has it that the organizers thought that most drinkers were not going to show up until after 3pm. Instead, many of the special beers were already sold out by then, and there was murmur among the crowd that other beers would be out soon, too.

Additionally, there was a bit of an issue being able to cool down and serve cold beers, as the doors of the refrigerators were rarely closed for very long before someone was reaching in to buy something.
– This was less of an issue for the big stouts that were on offer, such as Narwhal by Sierra Nevada and Speedway stout by AleSmith…

A number of the brewers and staff from the American breweries flew over, and so there was opportunity to talk about beer and to hear stories about the craft beer scene on the other side of the world.

American Craft Beers to Experience

Majority of the beers were in cans in refrigerators, partly divided by the importers that are bringing in the beers from the USA. For beers that were not currently imported regularly, they were grouped together.
