Brasserie Du Bas Bangkok

Bangkok continues at pace to be a magnet of international good beer in a variety of languages. Coming from the colder north American region of Montreal, in Canada’s French speaking province of Quebec: launch of the Brasserie Du Bas, in Bangkok.

Poutine and Brasserie Du Bas Bangkok

What is considered Canada’s greatest contribution to the world? Some say beavers, others might suggest the humble toque (knitted wool hat), but it is, in fact. Poutine.* It is not healthy, it is not refined, but it is delicious.

To round out the Québécois event, poutine will be available to be enjoyed with the fresh beers.

*Wikipeia explains:
“Poutine[a] is a dish of french fries and cheese curds topped with a hot brown gravy. It emerged in the Centre-du-Québec region of Quebec in the late 1950s, though its exact origins are uncertain, and there are several competing claims regarding its invention. For many years, it was used by some to mock Quebec society.[1] Poutine later became celebrated as a symbol of Québécois culture and the province of Quebec.”

Montreal beer launch at Hair of the Dog Bangkok
Brasserie Du Bas Bangkok

From Hair of the Dog’s Facebook event

“Montreal crashes into Bangkok … Tabarnak!!
Brasserie Du Bas is landing stupid fresh, flown straight from Montreal and tapped so fast it didn’t even have time to argue with customs.
9 taps. 9 cans. Jet-lagged beer tasting better than your last life choice.
And yes, of course we’ve got poutine. Real, messy, gravy-drenched, cheese-pull French-Canadian chaos. Your cardiologist would disapprove, but your soul won’t.
Roll in early, drink fresh, eat reckless, blame Montreal later.
Saturday 22nd — 11am, Phrom Phong

Also happening the same day, is the Jaang’s 8th anniversary BBQ. Located directly west of Hair of the Dog, and in between Lumphini and Benchakitti parks.

An early pioneer in Bangkok’s brewing scene – Jaang is having a BBQ to celebrate 8 years of serving local beer and sato, and being a hidden gem in the city.
