The Londoner is Bangkok’s oldest brewpub that started life in 1997, and later moved from the Suhkumvit area to it’s current location in the Suan Luang suburb east of the city center. The brewpub offers a couple beers brewed on-premises and a wide variety of food and drinks available. The pub has 3 floors, high ceilings, outdoor seating, and several screens showing sports.

A Gastropub to please craft beer lovers and foodies
Both menus at the Londoner are rather large –
The drinks menu has a variety of beers, including the 2 beers brewed in the building next door, a pilsner and a British style IPA. From beer, the drinks menu moves a couple of pages of whiskey: Scottish single malts, American whisky, and Asian bottles from Japan and Taiwan. The menu then moves to cocktails, smoothies, and wines. The last page also includes cigars for those that might enjoy partaking on the patio.
The food menu provides pictures of the variety of foods that make it a gastro-pub. On top of usual pub favorites, there is also lamb shanks, British roast options, and even pizza from next door. As an indicator to the family-friendly feel, the menu offers a kids menu, as well as an infants menu.

Getting to the Londoner brewpub:
The pub is on the way as you head east out of town, towards Suvarnabhumi Airport. It is located close to the Airport express rail line, which runs along the new Bangkok-Chon Buri New Line Expressway
From the BTS (Skytrain) station Phayathai, take exit 5 to get on the airport rail line, and get a ticket to hop off at Ramkhamhaeng station. You can then take a half hour walk, or bus or taxi to The Londoner.
The brewery for the Londoner is located right next door, with only an alleyway separating the pub and the brewery. If visiting you will probably see the facilities on your way to use the facilities. The General Manager Dan told me
A big of the brewpub’s history and information
The man behind the beer is brewmaster Peter Schwarzmueller. A certified brewmaster that has been brewing for the Londoner for 22 years. Before that, he had a stint with Paulaner Braeuhaus. For the geeky brew interested: the brewery has four 1,000 liter bright tanks and four 1,000 liter storage tanks.
Currently, the brewery brews 2 beers: a Pilsner, and a British IPA. The Londoner Brew pub used to brew 3 kinds of beer, but due to the thirst of the beer lovers coming into the bar, the brewery had to drop their low-carb lager so that they could keep up with the demand of the other two.
